Areas of Coverage
Currently, SJWD serves two municipalities, the Municipality of San Jose (Main System) and the Municipality of Magsaysay (Sub-System). San Jose is composed of 38 barangays (27 mainland barangays and 11 island barangays)
As of December 2016, SJWD provides Level III water supply in 16 out of 38 Barangays in San Jose with 6,820 service connections including Barangay Poblacion of the Municipality of Magsaysay. SJWD water supply is commonly used for household and commercial purposes. SJWD is serving 17 Barangays namely:
- Barangay Poblacion 1 to 8
- Bagong Sikat
- Caminawit
- Labangan Poblacion
- Magbay
- Mabini
- Mapaya
- Pag-asa
- San Roque and
- Poblacion Magsaysay
In 2017, two barangays were added namely: La Curva and Mangarin projecting an increase in the number of connections to 7,400 by the end of the year which was not realized.
Household Coverage
As of December 2018, SJWD is serving 21.99% of the total number of households in the service area and is projected to increase to 29.37% by the end of 2026. There was a 12.78% increase in the number of active service connections from 6,047 in December 2011 to 6,820 in December 2016.
San Jose Water District currently maintains seventeen (17) operating pumping stations, each housing one shallow well. Water production is at 187,207.67 cubic meters, servicing total billed connections of 7,120 as of February 2018.
SJWD utilizes groundwater through seventeen (17) operational shallow wells for its 2 water systems, San Jose and Magsaysay. The main system is supplied by fifteen (15) shallow wells serving fifteen (15) barangays. On the other hand, the Magsaysay system, which is supplied by two (2) shallow wells, serves barangay Mangarin of San Jose and barangay Poblacion of Magsaysay.
SJWD utilizes only shallow wells due to salinity and sulfur issues of deep wells in the area. Wells can only be excavated about 10km from the shore.
All wells are equipped with pumps of different capacities. Most pumping stations have water directly fed into the network lines while others are designed to fill the water storage in Barangay Labangan Poblacion.
Based on SJWD data as of February 2018, the operating facilities have a discharge reate of 7.06 MLD. Chlorination is widely used as the treatment technology for all existing sources of San Jose Water District.
The SJWD has two (2) water tanks and an estimated 106.07 km of pipes of varying sizes ranging from 50 to 250 mm in diameter.
SJWD had 7,120 billed service connections as of February 2018, for an approximate 93,133 populace. SJWD charges its water consumers monthly depending on the category and the water volume consumed. The prevailing water tariff of the water district for domestic consumption is 258.00 pesos.
Total metered Billed Volume was at 123,570 cubic meters or equivalent to 62.51% of the total water production for February 2018. Correspondingly, the NRW level is at 37.49% for the same month.
Service coverage in the entire service area of SJWD is projected to increase from 19.46% to as much as 49.83%, on average, over the next 25 years. Current domestic consumption of 116.51 liters per capita per day (LPCD) is assumed to increase to about 125 liters per capita per day by 2044. Commercial consumption is assumed to increase to an average of 1.0 cubic meters/day for barangays with relatively low consumption, while for barangays that have exceeded this, their current consumption is assumed until the same period.
